ENERGIZING SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN

We're pleased to announce the Suburbs Alliance's new Energy Office!

Rising energy costs are straining already tight municipal budgets. Case studies suggest that savings from energy efficiency can reach into the millions of dollars! But while savings are important, reducing energy use and converting to renewable resources means less money spent on imports and more spent locally. It also leads to a cleaner environment, improved public health and slowed global warming.

That's why the Suburbs Alliance is facilitating an energy audit of municipal buildings in a sample of our member cities. With the support of DLEG's Rebuild Michigan program, we're partnering with DTE Energy to determine workable solutions for local cities. Stay tuned for details!

Five brilliant interns are working their magic in the Michigan Suburbs Alliance and throughout our member cities! Their projects include public health and public policy programming; DDA streamlining; laying the groundwork of the Energy Office; and human resource development. Meet the folks who strengthening southeast Michigan this spring.
