Hazel Park was certified by the Michigan Suburbs Alliance as a Redevelopment Ready Community in March 2006.  Achieving this distinction required the city to conduct a thorough analysis of its internal redevelopment processes and resolve weaknesses, inefficiencies and complexities with the help of certified planning consultants.  Improvements were guided by the Redevelopment Ready Communities Best Practices, which were developed by a committee made up of representatives from development, real estate, academia, and state and local government.  The result is an open and inviting redevelopment climate in the city of Hazel Park.
