UniverCities Connection Internship Program

The UniverCities Connection Internship Program places students with Millennial Mayors Congress member cities, where they will implement action-oriented solutions to regional challenges. This university-metropolitan alliance introduces the fresh ideas and research background of Michigan’s future professionals into local government while giving students real-world experience and a connection to the region.

Beginning in the summer of 2011, the interns will work to implement the MMC Energy Protocol in select southeast Michigan cities. These talented students help local cities complete important development projects that address Millennial concerns, focusing on innovative solutions to enhance urban vibrancy. UniverCities Connection internships place students in the middle of metro Detroit development efforts, where young people have an unprecedented opportunity to create positive change. Beyond their work in city government, interns attend bi-weekly meetings and weekend activities where they develop professional skills, learn about regional issues and development efforts, and discuss their internship experiences. These group interactions will further link MMC sites to collaboratively address problems.

To host an intern, your city must be a Millennial Mayors Congress member and your city council must have passed a resolution in support of the Energy Protocol.
